God bless our great president and falling back

Got up this morning about 8:30 according to the new time. Kinda cool. I got to hang out with the fellas last night and get up at a decent hour.

There is egg on the front window here at my apartment. It must have came from the apartment complex next door. There are a lot of rambunctious kids over there and there is a gap directly opposite my window in the trees that line the chain link fence between the two complexes. I checked my car and it is egg free but my upstairs neighbor has some egg on her back window. I'd be more annoyed if I hadn't done the same thing a couple of times when I was in high school.

A quick quote from another blogger

"Bush then invoked Bill Clinton, Daniel Patrick Moynihan, and other Democrats who would rather get fucked by Nixon's decayed femur than vote for Bush."

There she is

It's been a while since I've heard from her but I see Camille Paglia was interviewed for an article on Salon.com. Here's a quote: "Secondly, on Iraq: I still say, as I told Salon before the war, that it was despicable that most of the Democratic senators lay down flat and voted for the Iraq war resolution. So Kerry is trapped in that. He really does blow with the wind -- as the Republicans satirized in one of the greatest political ads ever, which showed him wind surfing back and forth across the screen. Nevertheless, Kerry's in a much better position to get us out of this damned war. Reelecting Bush just mires us in the same failed policies: Bush will just go on and on to prove he was right in the first place. He never fires anyone! And so we'll only have a stubborn continuation of the same blinkered strategies -- and maybe more foolish incursions. Iran and Syria may be next. We're throwing billions of dollars down the drain."

More you say? Alrighty:
"But for Moore to turn a sitting president of the United States into a joke, and to use his position abroad to foment anti-Americanism, has had a huge backlash: the massive, indulgent publicity about the Moore film was when the Republican passion for Bush really began -- the passion to defend him, fed by a longstanding scorn for the liberal major media and for Hollywood. That's when everything seemed to gel for Bush, who had alienated conservatives with his big spending and slack immigration policy."
Take a poll

Here is a poll taken on the English version of the Al-Jazeera website:

Who will win the 2004 US presidential election?

George Walker Bush :
36%
John Forbes Kerry :
55%
Others :
2%
Unsure :
7%

Destroy them all, God knows his children

God bless our great president.

In all seriousness how can you fucking sleep at night knowing that you are personally responsible for over 50,000 deaths? OK, I guess you have to sleep since your body demands that you do. I guess the real question is how can you stand in front of people while smirking like a third-grader with a snowball and claim the world is safer. When this dink is defeated this coming Twosday and he finally slinks out of the Whitehouse in early 2005 he is going to disappear from the national scene like no president ever has.

One of my favorite bands

Right now I am listening to a bootleg concert of the Butthole Surfers recorded in 1985 in Germany. It's so cool, I can't believe how clear this audience recording is. It's a pretty hot show. In fact throughout the whole show so far there is a constant, and unobtrusive, buzz from the crowd. Lots of "whoos" and various other vocal appreciations. I found it at this site. I highly recommend browsing this site if you like unedited concert recordings. Maybe you'll get lucky and find a show by one of your favorite bands. Just don't expect any real big names except for the Grateful Dead. If you are a Mike Watt or a Minutemen fan the site is a friggin' goldmine.

I also found a few Waco Brothers' show. God bless the internet.

The spin! Oh, the spin is out of control!

The news crew was based just south of Al Qaqaa, and drove two or three miles north of there with soldiers on April 18, 2003.

Comedy for the ages

Is it just me or is it hard for everyone to not bust a gut laughing when you see an AOL commericial hyping their customer service?
Look at all dem peoples

For the last ten working days here at my library branch there has been a constant line of people waiting to get in for early voting. Can you imagine that? Americans standing in line to vote! Wow.

You know after bashing our dingbat president for the last couple of years on this blog I have been trying to find something positive to say about the worthless turd and I think I found it. He is such a shitty and divisive president that he may directly cause the biggest turnout of voters in the last 100 years. God bless our crappy president!

I voted today and it felt really good to push that button on the machine marked "John Kerry." I have a recommendation to any undecided voters out there. If you are still undecided when you walk up to that voting machine go ahead and press the John Kerry button and take a gander at it. It'll feel so good I think you'll leave it that way and go on with the rest your ballot.

This is not political

I looked over my blog today and found that most of my entries for the last two weeks have been political in nature. Ill-informed diatribes and callous fearmongering on my part but still political. I apologize. I just write whatever is on my mind and then log off and let the world come and be entertained.

New Music

The other day I saw that Megadeth had released a new album. I went through a little metal phaze back in the early 90's. I tried to like it but most of it was shit. Megadeth rose above the genre for a while and recorded some darn good music. I do remember some people scoffed at their name as childish hyperbole but we live in a world where megadeath caused by weapons of mass kaplooey is a real concern and the band is of this world...you know what I mean. The new album is called "The System has Failed" and it's not bad. I say not bad because half of it is incredible and half of it is radio-friendly crap. But when it's good, boy oh boy, they haven't pouned stuff like that out for years. It's enough to cause you to make the devil horn sign with your hand and bite your lip and sneer for a second. I guess we can thank the shitty political climate created by George and his boys for one positive occurance, they managed to make Dave Mustaine angry again.

Holy Cow

I just got watching the new and obscene campaign commercial that was approved by our beloved president. Is this the same guy that accused Kerry of using fear in his campaign? Someone who is this irresponsible with his advertisements doesn't deserve his job or our respect.

George Bush: Full of shit

"With Tuesday’s attacks, Abu Musab Zarqawi, a Jordanian militant with ties to al-Qaida, is now blamed for more than 700 terrorist killings in Iraq...Military officials insist their case for attacking Zarqawi’s operation was airtight, but the administration feared destroying the terrorist camp in Iraq could undercut its case for war against Saddam...And despite the Bush administration’s tough talk about hitting the terrorists before they strike, Zarqawi’s killing streak continues today."
Baseball Heaven

I don't watch must baseball on TV during the regular season for various reasons but over the last three days I have watched some fantastic baseball being played by the Redsox and the Yankees during the American League Championship series. To me nothing beats playoff baseball.

Baseball creates a tension that cannot be matched by football. If your favorite football team has the ball on the one-yard line and they are down by five and need a touchdown and there is enough time left for one last play generally the team is going to run their play and they will either win or lose. In a baseball game a similar situation can last for two seconds or ten minutes as a batter and a pitcher duel each other. You don't know at the exact moment that final out or big hit will occur. It's an anticipation that cannot be equalled by sports that are timed.

I only wish baseball would cut a week off their regular season so the division series could be a best of seven and snow in the north would not be a threat during the world series.

Skeered enuff yet?

Ladies and gentleman, your vice president: "The biggest threat we face now as a nation is the possibility of terrorists ending up in the middle of one of our cities with deadlier weapons than have ever before been used against us - biological agents or a nuclear weapon or a chemical weapon of some kind - to be able to threaten the lives of hundreds of thousands of Americans. You have to get your mind around that concept."

Oh my god

This is one of the coolest videos I have ever seen. I don't remember ever seeing someone appear on a show just so he can tell the hosts how much their show sucks. John Stewart just might save America.

You gots to be in awe of how the hosts of a supposed debate show refused to debate John Stewart's accusations of non-debate on the show.

Mmmmm...profit

So what brought the Europeans to the New World? Money, money, money, money. So it begins.

Saturday, October 16, 2004

What the hey?

Coming back from lunch today I saw the strangest thing. I saw a very old lady pulled up to the outside bookdrop. She was driving one of those almost-extinct compact Ford cars from the seventies. The windows were dirty and the car was unwashed in only the way a very old lady or a college student would keep a car. As she pulled away from the bookdrop I saw on the back bumper of her car a faded "Perot for President" bumper sticker. When I entered the library I told everyone I saw about the old lady with the "Perot for President" bumper sticker. I think she may have come through a wormhole. Maybe if I had ran across the parking lot and caught up with her I could have given her some stock tips and when she returned to her own time she could have invested wisely and eventually bought a Focus.

They forgot something last night

Did you notice last night that the environment was not mentioned once during the presidential debate? What's up with that? We have a president whose attitude toward global warming is to advise the world to war short pants but when we have stories like this one out there I can't believe the moderator did not bring up the environment. I guess poisoned air and water is not a domestic issue.
Something out of nothing

I see the Bush camp is trying to drum up controversey because John Kerry made a harmless reference to Dick Cheney's rug-munching daughter when he was asked whether or not homosexuality was a choice. D-E-S-P-E-R-A-T-E.

Hey, if you really want to be offended why not be offended by the fact that such labels exist. As long as two men that are running for president can stand in front of the people of this country and seriously state that marriage is between a man and a woman we got bigger things to worry about that hot lesbian action during a presidential debate.
Amen, brother man

This is from Tom Tomorrow's site: "Memo to network executives: we don't need your exit polling or your projected winners, because we've already got a system in place to determine the outcome of the election.

It's called voting.

See, what you do is, you shut up and wait until the votes are counted and--voila--you find out who won. It's just that simple."

Thank god someone else thinks this way. I have always thought it was wrong for the news networks to post partial counts and exit polls from the east coast before the polls on the west coast closed. If the polls close at 7 pm in California then let the networks speculate their asses off at that point and let them keep silent for a few hours once a year. Is that too much to ask?

Lawd Jesus, He'p us

Just in case you aren't completely convinced this guy is not only unfit for the office he holds but also unworthy of anything but our contempt I offer this: "Bush has a history of addressing the Christian right in code. In the Sept. 17 Washington Post, Alan Cooperman pointed out many phrases Bush has used to deliver a religious message over the heads of plodding secular humanists like me. "Culture of life," Cooperman reported, means "abortion is murder." Bush used the phrase in an Aug. 3 speech to the Knights of Columbus. "Wonder-working power" refers to the power of Christ, though Bush used it in a seemingly secular context ("Yet there's power, wonder-working power, in the goodness and idealism and faith of the American people") in his 2003 State of the Union address."
Something here seems familiar...

I am currently reading "The Plot Against America" by Philip Roth. It's set during the 1940's and instead of Roosevelt getting elected to the presidency for a third time, the anti-semitic and fervent isolationist Charles Lindbergh becomes president.

Hmmm...an ideologically driven right wing president spends his first term creating a very dangerous and divisive climate in the United States. Dang, that sounds familiar to me for some reason.

More NASCAR stuff you don't care about

Professional baseball players have a union. Professional football players have a union. Should not professional racecar drivers have a union?

Grasping at imaginary straws

I guess if you use this logic it's OK to kill that ten-year-old boy next door who you suspect may one day turn out to be a criminal because of his family history and bad upbringing.
The man's a genius

Tom Waits discusses loops in Mojo Magazine: "The trouble with a loop is once your mind realises that it's a loop it stops listening to it, just like you stop looking at the pattern on that tablecloth. There's no reason to continue to stare at that pattern."
How low can you go?

This is just pitiful. Why not just call a "do-over" and say "No fair, I wasn't ready." I believe this act would be "less than honest." Not a lie, mind you, once again just not within the strict definition of the truth. It really is a shame that this slimy little weasel has been allowed to degrade the once honorable position of President of the United States. Shameful.

When he was initially elected I hoped after four years people would see how horrible he was and he'd be one termer who would be a blip on the timeline of history. Because of 9/11 and congress rolling over for his agenda (including Kerry) he is coming real close to putting us all in real danger. I honestly don't understand how the polls are even as close as they are.

Once again thanks to the wise Josh Marshall for the link.

A cause for celebration

It only happens every few years like a total eclipse. This week a momentus occasion took place, Tom Waits released a new album. Is it good? Hey, it's a Tom Waits album. Waits is like Dylan either you like or you don't. If you don't like him I don't want to hear why because whatever you say is wrong.

The album is similar to Mule Variations in that it's staggered in its styles. It has the freak outs, the slow songs, a spoken word piece, humor, pathos, experimental sounds and Tom's croon and his howl. What in the hell else could you want?

Like any album by this guy it's going to take weeks to digest it properly. I am looking forward to my nice long buffet.
Oops

Didn't our vice president say last night that he's never met John Kerry?

Thanks to Talking Points Memo for the link.

The evidence mounts

And mounts

You do have to admire how Cheney stated that he never made the connection between Iraq and 9/11 and then a few minutes later obliquely make that connection. It was stunning.

Howdy

Just got done watching the vice-presidentail debate and Cheney is good. Too bad he's not a complete boob like Bush.

Rodney

I see Rodney Dangerfield died just a couple of hours ago. The man had pefect comedy timing. His performance in Caddyshack is just genius. So long, Rodney.

I bet he was greeted by Bill Hicks at the gates and they are right now getting drunk and watching Hendrix explode.

Restrictor plate racing sucks

Thank god Mark Martin has enough balls to criticize NASCAR. Ever since Earnhardt died he has been the only one willing to speak out against restrictor plate racing which could be fixed if NASCAR actually wanted to fix it: "I don't think that was a great race," he said. "It might have been a great show, but we could have been doing that on a figure-eight track or in a demolition derby...This is pitiful, this is pitiful. I swear, if there is anything I can do in my entire power I will not let my son race here."

He made these comments after today's race at Talladega.

He can't be serious

This recent statement by Bush sums up to me why he needs to be gone: "When our country's in danger the president's job is not to take an international poll. The president's job is to defend America."

First of all he knows that is a misleading statement. Like John Kerry wouldn't make a move he knew was correct if it was unpopular internationally. Likewise to make such a statement shows his complete disregard for the input of other countries. Hey, Howdy Doody, it's called diplomacy. Jesus, all John Kerry has said is he would be more sensitive (sensitive meaning having a regard for the how others may perceive your moves not being a girly man like our asshole vice president insinuated) to international perceptions of American policy. Again, sir, that's called diplomacy. I don't understand how people can support Bush when he makes such disingenuous statements.

Ah well, a couple more debates and this election will be decided anyway.

The caption game

Hey, buddy, I won't be able to make it to your funeral so I'll just so goodbye now.
Just imagine...

It is now a little after 1:30 in the afternoon, debate day +1. Since I am at work I can only imagine the hateful lies that Rush Limbaugh is filling the airwaves with right now.
This is the best you can do?

Conservative columnist's circular argument courtesy of David Frum. He starts by quoting Kerry: '“I know that for many of you sitting at home, parents of kids in Iraq, you want to know who's the person who could be a commander in chief who could get your kids home and get the job done and win the peace.” Then, less than 60 seconds later, he said: “I'm not talking about leaving. I'm talking about winning.” Well which is it? Getting the kids home – or winning the war?'

What a dick. Of course he's talking about winning and then bringing the boys home, you ass. This is th shit that passes as journalism in this country?
Stomped

How bad did Bush get stomped last night? So bad that all Drudge can do is insist in his headlines that the debate was a draw. Nice try, dicknose.
