Last Night

Last night Melanie and I got to see two bands. Second Skin played at Petra's Piano Bar at 7pm. They were opening for another band so they played a pretty short set. After that we headed down to the Thirsty Beaver and caught the end of a great set by the Lenny Federal Band. We even got home in time for Melanie to get to bed early for her 7:30am shift at work. Good times.

After we left Petra's we walked in the drizzle to the Jeep and we saw downtown Charlotte was emerge from the rain clouds.

Junior Johnson

In case you ever wondered why Junior Johnson is such a giant figure in NASCAR check out about 60 seconds of this video. He is racing in the 1953 Southern 500 and he flips his car on the back stretch. He climbs out while cars are still flying by and pops his head. Removes what, I guess, is the air filter, removes his shirt and uses his shirt to smother the fire on his engine. I bet Babe Ruth never did anything like that.

I am really enjoying the Instagram app on my phone. This is a shot of my friend Chris hitting his second (actually 4th) shot on the 16th hole at Renaissance golf course in Charlotte.

Glen the Car Guy

He doesn't come to our library anymore because our computers are too slow but I do have a Glen sighting occasionally. Today he rode his bike through our parking lot and walked his bike across the street. White whale captured!
