Fenway Park

This picture was posted on Twitter by Brian Britten, the director of media relations for the Detroit Tigers. The two guys in the picture are AA ballplayers in the Tigers organization. I wonder what brings them to Fenway? Was their team playing nearby and the organization decided to give them a treat?

Looking for Sunshine

If any levity can be found in the aftermath of last night's tragic shooting and the name calling across political aisles that always follows one of these events it has to be what is going on at the horrible, horrible Breitbart website. First they call out ABC News for making a pretty big mistake by announcing the theater shooter may belong to the Tea Party. Naturally the Breitbart turds express the greatest of all possible outrage. And what do they post right next to it on their website? A story speculating that the shooter may be a registered Democrat. Not only is irony dead, it's corpse is being raped by hacks like those at Breitbart. Most people who unleash nonsense like this into the wild (like Rush Limbaugh and Hannity) know what they are doing. After observing these Breitbart guys for a while I think they believe they are on the side of righteousness which makes them the stuff of apocalyptic nightmares.

Another shot of the blue heron

It was fascinating to watch the heron step quietly through the water as he hunted. In this shot you can see him slowly lowering his leg into the water. He was moving so slow it was almost funny, like a parody of someone trying to be quiet. Like me trying to sneak into bed after playing video games all night.

Great Blue Heron

Today while golfing we saw a great blue heron capture and eat a fish. Good times.

How is that again?

Because I am an idiot I like to look at the Fox Nation website just to see what the functionally retarded are up to. Right now there is a desire by some conservatives to get a look at President Obama's college records. They are convinced there is something there that is embarrassing that he is hiding from the nation. Disregarding that candidates generally don't release their college transcripts, they gots to see Obama's. A current story about the president's press secretary supposedly sneering at a reporter who had the audacity to ask about transparency in reference to the school records has been a fun one. First of all, if you watch the video it's obvious Carney is not sneering. Dismissive of an obvious distraction, maybe. Sneering? No. The headlines are always like that. If a conservative pundit or politician appears to get the upper hand in a political argument he either crushes, destroys or decimates his opposition. Someone got a thesaurus for Christmas!

Comments sections on news websites seem to get taken over by conservatives a lot and what you get here at the Fox Nation website are stories where the comments are mostly all conservatives in a contest to see who can upload the most horrible and incorrect post.

What I find fascinating about the arguments put forward concerning President Obama's college records is that they are incredibly circular. Generally, they are like this:
A) I think Obama should release his college records.
B) He won't? What is he hiding?!?!?
C) Obama is hiding something in his college records. He should release them.

What kills me is that they have no idea what they are doing. Anyone that calls attention to their flawed logic (sometimes it's me) is called an Obamabot or ignorant or "out of touch with reality." It really is fascinating.

After reading the comments for a few minutes I mentioned that no one is asking for Romney's college records. After reading a few responses their reasoning about that comes down to this: Although we have no proof, we are pretty sure there is something in Obama's college records he doesn't want us to see so we should be able to see them. Although we have no proof, we are certain Romney has nothing in his school records he wishes to hide from us so we don't need to see them." You got it, they don't like Obama.

Neat Little Thing I Saw

Yesterday Melanie was running late and I drove her a few stops ahead of the bus so she wouldn't miss it. I stuck around to make sure she got on. When the bus arrived and she embarked the bus started pulling away slowly before she sat down. As she walked back toward the rear of the bus she kept pace with the bus stop, for about two seconds it looked like she was propelling the bus with her feet. Nice little surreal moment to start the day.

The Nobama Attitude

Driving to work today I ended up behind an SUV with so many conservative stickers on the back that I thought maybe it was done as a joke. It had a sticker that said "I support the 2nd Amendment," one that read "If you voted for Obama in 2008 to prove you weren't racist then vote him out in 2012 to prove you're not an idiot." It also had a sticker asking how that hope and change were working and another with the "Nobama" along with the design borrowed from Obama's 2008 campaign logo. There was one more about the leaders will follow if the people lead but that one could go either way.

I found interesting the sticker that implied that some people voted for Obama out of guilt. Methinks that may be a bit of projection on the part of anyone who believes that. Maybe, just maybe, I didn't vote for Obama out of guilt. I voted for him because I am a liberal and I support his policies over McCain's (and there is not way in hell I would vote for a ticket which had Sarah Palin). Maybe, just maybe, you didn't vote for him and protest a bit too much for a similar reason? No? Hey, you brought up race, dude, I think you're the one with issues.

And this whole 2nd amendment thing. Oh good, you support the 2nd amendment. I am so happy you think the country should have a militia...What? You think that allows you arm yourself to the teeth and allow criminals to shoot up neighborhoods because "law abiding" citizens sell their guns and/or don't store them securely? As Al Franken once said in reference to a quote by Phil Gramm ("I have more guns than I need but not as many as I want"), "He and I are two very different people."*

*May not be exact quotes, I don't have access to Franken's book Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot which is where that quote appears to originate.

By the way, one of my favorite Al Franken moments happened on Al's appearance on Howard Stern back when Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot first came out. Howard massacred the name of the book at one point, calling it something like Rush Limbaugh is an Idiot and Al interrupted Howard and dead panned in the way only he can, "No, no, the title is Rush Limbaugh is a BIG FAT Idiot." Slayed me.

Lightning

At the end of my lunch hour today a thunderstorm blew through the Southpark area. Upstairs I pressed my camera to a window and took about twenty shots, trying to catch some lightning. I got one.
