On an unrelated note, the sound system at the food court at the Southpark Mall is still down. It's been down since around the new year. It is so nice not to have shitty music blaring through the food court. Now I hear foot steps and people talking. I am wondering what the deal is. Before the TV screens there played some piped in broadcast that featured music videos by average pop bands and interviews with minor celebrities and the occasional funny pet video. Now there is nothing but blank, silent screens. My bet is the company that created the content went tits up and the mall is searching for a new company to provide them with innocuous content. I say, take down those TV and leave the room as it is. Not every public space needs a soundtrack. That's not going to happen but a guy can dream, can't he?

Sunlight and Clouds and Shit
Saw this view at the mall today. It's hard to capture those sun rays that poke through a hole the clouds. I pretty much whiffed on this one but it's close.

Burn, Baby, Burn
Yesterday afternoon we were treated to this sight, our neighbor burning leaves in her driveway. An illegal act. I am wondering if she knows this is illegal? She may not. I need to find a nice way to tell her to knock it the fuck off.

Early Voting
Early voting time again. Long lines. Short lines. Fender benders. Aggressive campaigners. Candidates. And old people passing out while standing in line.

New Camera Macro Shots
The other day I replaced my Powershot SX10 with a more recent version of pretty much the same camera. I now have a Canon SX50 HS. It really is an improved version of the camera I have had since 2009. I found out today it takes better macro photos than the one it replaced.

Cloud Panorama
Yesterday we went into Winston-Salem, NC for a book fair and a short tour of local craft breweries. On the way out of town we could see some weather moving in and those cloud nicely augmented the already amazing parade of cumulus clouds we had been enjoying all day.

A Panorama
This weekend Melanie and drove up to Salisbury, NC to visit a book store because that is how we roll. Downtown Salisbury was a pleasant surprise. The old downtown area is still intact, lot of old buildings with character and inside those buildings there are local businesses. Imagine that. We will definitely go back when the weather gets cooler. We saw about three places you can sit outside and eat. Salisbury is only an hour from our driveway and it is just far enough away to allow you to break the grip of Charlotte. Sometimes you just have to get out of town, you know?
Just down the street from the downtown area is a business called Salisbury Motor Company. It was established in 1919 and is supposedly still owned by the same family. The exterior looks a lot like it must have when the building opened. It has a corner window display area for automobiles. It was a nice surprise on our short journey.
