How low can you go?

This is just pitiful. Why not just call a "do-over" and say "No fair, I wasn't ready." I believe this act would be "less than honest." Not a lie, mind you, once again just not within the strict definition of the truth. It really is a shame that this slimy little weasel has been allowed to degrade the once honorable position of President of the United States. Shameful.

When he was initially elected I hoped after four years people would see how horrible he was and he'd be one termer who would be a blip on the timeline of history. Because of 9/11 and congress rolling over for his agenda (including Kerry) he is coming real close to putting us all in real danger. I honestly don't understand how the polls are even as close as they are.

A cause for celebration

It only happens every few years like a total eclipse. This week a momentus occasion took place, Tom Waits released a new album. Is it good? Hey, it's a Tom Waits album. Waits is like Dylan either you like or you don't. If you don't like him I don't want to hear why because whatever you say is wrong.

The album is similar to Mule Variations in that it's staggered in its styles. It has the freak outs, the slow songs, a spoken word piece, humor, pathos, experimental sounds and Tom's croon and his howl. What in the hell else could you want?

Like any album by this guy it's going to take weeks to digest it properly. I am looking forward to my nice long buffet.
Oops

Didn't our vice president say last night that he's never met John Kerry?

Thanks to Talking Points Memo for the link.

The evidence mounts

And mounts

You do have to admire how Cheney stated that he never made the connection between Iraq and 9/11 and then a few minutes later obliquely make that connection. It was stunning.

Howdy

Just got done watching the vice-presidentail debate and Cheney is good. Too bad he's not a complete boob like Bush.

Rodney

I see Rodney Dangerfield died just a couple of hours ago. The man had pefect comedy timing. His performance in Caddyshack is just genius. So long, Rodney.

I bet he was greeted by Bill Hicks at the gates and they are right now getting drunk and watching Hendrix explode.

Restrictor plate racing sucks

Thank god Mark Martin has enough balls to criticize NASCAR. Ever since Earnhardt died he has been the only one willing to speak out against restrictor plate racing which could be fixed if NASCAR actually wanted to fix it: "I don't think that was a great race," he said. "It might have been a great show, but we could have been doing that on a figure-eight track or in a demolition derby...This is pitiful, this is pitiful. I swear, if there is anything I can do in my entire power I will not let my son race here."

He made these comments after today's race at Talladega.

He can't be serious

This recent statement by Bush sums up to me why he needs to be gone: "When our country's in danger the president's job is not to take an international poll. The president's job is to defend America."

First of all he knows that is a misleading statement. Like John Kerry wouldn't make a move he knew was correct if it was unpopular internationally. Likewise to make such a statement shows his complete disregard for the input of other countries. Hey, Howdy Doody, it's called diplomacy. Jesus, all John Kerry has said is he would be more sensitive (sensitive meaning having a regard for the how others may perceive your moves not being a girly man like our asshole vice president insinuated) to international perceptions of American policy. Again, sir, that's called diplomacy. I don't understand how people can support Bush when he makes such disingenuous statements.

Ah well, a couple more debates and this election will be decided anyway.

The caption game

Hey, buddy, I won't be able to make it to your funeral so I'll just so goodbye now.
Just imagine...

It is now a little after 1:30 in the afternoon, debate day +1. Since I am at work I can only imagine the hateful lies that Rush Limbaugh is filling the airwaves with right now.
This is the best you can do?

Conservative columnist's circular argument courtesy of David Frum. He starts by quoting Kerry: '“I know that for many of you sitting at home, parents of kids in Iraq, you want to know who's the person who could be a commander in chief who could get your kids home and get the job done and win the peace.” Then, less than 60 seconds later, he said: “I'm not talking about leaving. I'm talking about winning.” Well which is it? Getting the kids home – or winning the war?'

What a dick. Of course he's talking about winning and then bringing the boys home, you ass. This is th shit that passes as journalism in this country?
Stomped

How bad did Bush get stomped last night? So bad that all Drudge can do is insist in his headlines that the debate was a draw. Nice try, dicknose.
